What makes Merino wool special?
Merino sheep’s wool is an incredibly soft fiber. It can be softer than cashmere and smoother than silk. The harsh conditions in which Merino sheep live have given their wool exceptional thermal properties. It retains warmth in low temperatures (even when wet) and cools the body when it’s hot. This is why the long-sleeved Saxon shirt is suitable for use both in summer and winter.
Merino wool is excellent at moisture wicking, thanks to the structure of its fibers. It absorbs moisture into the fiber, where it is “transported” to the tip and evaporated. This makes Merino wool clothing ideal for sports activities.
Merino wool is naturally antibacterial, and clothing made from it does not develop odors even after multiple wears. This makes it possible to pack less and use one shirt for several days. Merino wool also absorbs UV rays and is naturally antistatic. Garments made from Merino wool are easy to care for and can be machine-washed.
